The assignment comes as a bit of a blessing because my 2nd semester's beginning is absolutely manic and I can use the following in class in a week, or so.

TASK

Explain Thomas' understanding of how nature & grace "work" together.  Refer to the text from the Summa Theologiae, I, q. 1, a. 8, ad 2, to class lectures, & to the unit's multimedia presentations. You might also need to do some additional online research. Make sure that you include appropriate citations (even when paraphrasing).

Next, critique Thomas' teaching. Remember, a good critique discusses the positive and negative characteristics of an idea, artifact, text, etc.

Answer the questions:  Does Thomas' understanding of nature still "work" today, especially for young adults? Why? Why not? How about his understanding of grace? Your response should reflect both feeling & critical thinking.

Finally, suggest how a young adult might today communicate these ideas to peers.

If you need help, get confused, want to brainstorm, etc., first talk to your peers in other groups. I'm happy to join the conversation later.

PROCESS

You will be assigned to a random group of 3-4 people. Decide together who will help keep the group organized and assign tasks; who will help to keep the group on task; and, who will help the group to communicate.

Create a Google Doc to archive all of your research notes, bibliography, URL's, etc. Share it with me with editing privileges. Use my Fenwick email address.

Use Google Slides (preferred), or similar, to create a 4 - 5 minute screencast (Screenr, Screencastomatic, Screencast, etc.) to share the fruit of your research. The screencast must include narration. Audio, images, or video can be mined from the internet, or original creations. I leave it up to you to decide how many to use, but remember our "Goldilocks Principle." Again, appropriately cite all resources (even your own!).

Send the URL for your presentation to me by Sunday, ____, 11.59PM. Project extensions must be discussed at least 48 hours in advance.
